INDEPENDENT VENUE WEEK
Wednesday 29th January
Our second presentation during Independent Venue Week, Prof John Schofield (Archaeology, University of York) will begin by examining how Berlin's techno scene emerged from the chaotic end of the Cold War thirty years ago, how the post Cold War city has come to rely on club culture, and how vital techno is to preventing Berlin from becoming just another city.
This is a talk about heritage, tourism, music, cities after dark and alternative lifestyles. Following the presentation John will morph into his DJ alter-ego Hippocampus (https://johnschofield.wixsite.com/hippocampusdj) and play some Berlin techno spanning the past 30 years.
